Steps for this tutorial

Step 1 - Test your website without plugin installed

Go to https://tools.pingdom.com/ and enter your website address.

Select the closest location to you from the drop-down menu.

Select the "Start Test" button.

Note: Keep this page open so you can see results before and after installing the SiteGround Optimizer Plugin.

Step 2: Log into your WordPress website and install the plugin

Login into WordPress Dashboard.

Select Plugins from the left side navigation.

Select the "Add New" button.

Search for "SiteGround".

Install the SiteGround Optimiser Plugin

Sep 3: Enable SiteGround Caching

Enable the following WordPress caching features:

Dynamic Caching

File-Based Caching

Memcached

Note: Some of these features will only work if you are hosting your website on SiteGround.

Step: 4 Enable Environment WordPress Optimisation

Enable the following WordPress caching features:

HTTPS Enforce - This will make sure your website will always load using HTTPS SSL encryption.

Fix Insecure Content - This will make sure all content is pathed to your HTTPS URL.

Step 5: Minify Code

Enable the following WordPress caching features:

Minify, Combine and Preload CSS Files

Minify HTML

Step 6: Compress Images

Use the SiteGround Optimizer Plugin to compress images into WebP format.

Step 7: Re-Tets your website speed

Open a new browser tab and go to https://tools.pingdom.com/ and enter your website address.

Select the closest location to you from the drop-down menu.

Select the "Start Test" button.

Note: You can now compare the results from step 1.
